Ihsaan Mohamed '22 has been writing for The Pioneer Log since her freshman year. She loved it so much that she joined again her sophomore year. Only this time as an opinion editor. She believes everyone deserves to be heard and hopes to support and encourage the variety of voices who write for the newspaper. Ihsaan is an International Affairs Major and Middle East and North African studies minor. As an IA major, she is incredibly passionate about human rights and hopes to pursue a career in law. In her free time she enjoys reading, writing, golfing, baking, and hanging out with her huge but wonderful family.

Head Men’s & Women’s Golf Coach Bradley Johnson announced he would be leaving in two weeks at the golf team’s first practice of the season on Feb. 21.

Lewis & Clark hired Johnson in January 2022, with many in the athletics community hopeful for the impact he would have for the program. Johnson had a reputation for improving collegiate programs: He took New York University’s men’s team from being 130th in the nation for more than a decade to 8th in the country, and coached their women’s team to a national championship in 2019. Now, Johnson is returning to New York where his wife was offered a lucrative job opportunity.

On Feb. 26, the student-run cafe and hangout spot The Co-op held their first art market of the Spring 2023 semester. The market had roughly 30 vendors, who displayed their various wares of jewelry, prints, fiber arts, clothing and more in a maze of tables within the cozy cafe, all with a backdrop of snowfall outside.

On March 17, or Saint Patrick’s Day, many flock to bars or stay home and get drunk. However, there are many reasons why people choose not to drink: they have already had one too many, (hopefully wanted) pregnancies, attempting to defeat the alcoholic streak in the family or just wanting to break Irish stereotypes. No matter the case, here are some just-as-tasty non-alcoholic options, because everyone deserves a delicious drink in hand.

The Associated Student Body (ASB) should stop providing digital access, professors should stop driving clicks to their website and if you have a paper subscription, it is time to cancel. The New York Times, an institution of United States journalism, has an agenda against transgender people.

Lewis & Clark has been the target of an ongoing cyberattack that has caused network outages of systems and services since March 3.

A campus-wide notification was sent at 7:35 a.m. explaining that the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone system was experiencing an outage. Another notification was sent at 9:38 a.m. that all three campuses were experiencing a widespread outage with no estimated time for restoration. On March 4, the Executive Council notified the school that the outage was the result of an external cyberattack on all of LC’s IT systems, though the source of the attack is unknown.
