Introducing our next editor, Paige Anderson! This Introducing our next editor, Paige Anderson!

This is Paige’s first year working with The Log and second year at Lewis & Clark. She is beyond excited to take on the role of News Editor and can’t wait to experience Log life. Paige is an English major and was Editor-in-Chief of her high school’s magazine and fell in love with student journalism. Paige can be found closely inspecting LC’s variety of moss, drinking black tea, or baking pies in her free time. She is always knitting a hat and recently learned to crochet, which has taken a toll on her bank account.
Lewis & Clark released new update photos of constr Lewis & Clark released new update photos of construction underway on Templeton Campus Center. To accommodate construction, power in the building will be unavailable on Aug. 6. According to LC's websites and estimates by Bremick Construction, the Trail Room is on track to open for the beginning of the fall semester. The Trail Room will offer extended hours for morning coffee, dinner and late night until 10 p.m. In order to accommodate these changes, Maggie's will be closed and reutilized according to an email sent to the community on July 22.  Templeton Way is also currently blocked off to all car traffic, but paving is estimated to be partially complete in time for New Student Orientation and move-in.

Next on our roster is one of our sports editors, N Next on our roster is one of our sports editors, Noah Reese-Clauson!

Noah is a rising sophomore from Chicago who is excited to be one of this fall’s Sports Editors. Track was his sport in high school and he continued this love last year at Lewis & Clark. He loves watching basketball (go Celtics) and is excited to learn and share more about the sports world in his new role.

Rosalind loves writing about things that aren’t real, which has served her well during her tenure as editor of the Backdoor. In what will be her last year on The Log staff (unless she ends up in some kind of time loop type situation), Rosalind hopes to continue to bring her passion for making stuff up to both her work and the LC community at large. 

In her free time, Rosalind enjoys hanging out and having fun.
DJ Smith will be taking over our head of broadcast DJ Smith will be taking over our head of broadcasting role which includes our podcast (formerly called the Pio Pod). 

DJ is a senior from Las Vegas. He is a Rhetoric & Media Studies major who is interested in video essays. DJ also plays D-Line for the LC football team. In the last two years, DJ worked as a residential advisor, and in the previous year, he served as one of the Black Student Union’s co-presidents.

This year, he is looking forward to using and developing his skill in writing scripts and recording. He hopes to strengthen the LC community by amplifying students’ voices with the podcast along with bringing light to important topics. This is his first year contributing to The Log and is more excited than ever.

Aubrey is a senior at Lewis & Clark majoring in English and minoring in French Studies. She is a seasoned member of The Log’s editorial board, having spent her sophomore year as an Arts Editor and her junior year as Managing Editor.

Aubrey is an avid reader and movie watcher. She also enjoys linguistics, European music and journaling. She plans to teach English in France after graduating.

Introducing Emma Ford. Keeping in mind the common Introducing Emma Ford.

Keeping in mind the common wisdom that opinions are crucial to a well-rounded liberal arts education, Emma is thrilled to join The Log as Opinions editor for her sophomore year. A lifelong writer and recent convert to student journalism, the opportunity to learn and grow among peers is invaluable.

Emma’s planned academic path is a major in International Affairs with a minor in Middle Eastern and North African Studies, followed by law school. Until then, she will stay busy with Speech and Debate, chairing the Honor Board and participating in the Philanthropy Society. Outside of school, Emma finds time for art, baking and a terrible shopping addiction.

How To Contribute

The Pioneer Log holds weekly staff meetings every Monday at 5 p.m. in J. R. Howard Rm. 105. Staff meetings are open to all members of the Lewis & Clark community. Come and hear pitches for articles and visuals and connect with The Pioneer Log’s editorial board.
